Back to Blogging … ?

March 26, 2008

At the end of December, when I wrote a “welcome” to this blog, I voiced some concern about the noisiness of this medium and suggested that I would try to keep this particular site quieter than most. Well, on top of the upheaval associated with the release of my book – and overshadowing it by a long shot – a tragic family event has kept me away longer than I expected. For the blog at least, the hiatus may be a good thing. Although I have been keeping tabs on things, I haven’t been caught up in the media flurries of the moment. So, if I’m lucky, maybe I’ll be able to pick the more important developments of the past few months out of the jumble and bring those to your attention.

Also, for whatever reason – and some of it is certainly emotional – I really haven’t had much to say. However, the excellent interview that Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez conducted this past Friday with Jim and myself on “Democracy Now!” has stirred things up, and I find myself bursting with ideas. I hope I can roll a few out over the next couple of weeks, and that you will find them, as I wrote in the “welcome,” meaningful, relevant, and useful. I’ll start with some reflections on Friday’s interview and the response it evoked in the noise-some blogosphere.
